Hydrogen peroxide, H2O2, is a chemical compound between hydrogen and oxygen. It is used in everything from hair dyeing and teeth whitening to pulp- and paper-bleaching. H2O2 is also celebrated as a sustainable regent and can to hold the key to efficient and inexpensive energy technology of the future.
Today there is a lack of inexpensive technology to efficiently produce H2O2 via electrocatalysis. Graphene is highly conductive, offers large surface area and has been proven excellent as an electro-catalyzer. Together with Linköping University, Ahlstrom-Munksjö and RISE we are aiming to develop an electrode technology based on graphene-paper to enable H2O2 production at large rates and high efficiency.
– This is a very interesting project, since hydro peroxide could become an important part of future energy technology. At 2D fab we see great potential in functionalized paper, so this is very exciting for us, says Sven Forsberg, CEO at 2D fab.
The project will run from May 2020 to April 2023
