The reinforced speed bumps will face real traffic and tough conditions. The team will be able to evaluate the differences between the reinforced and reference bumps after a few months, and certainly following their first winter, providing valuable insights into durability and wear.
For Gunnar Prefab, the collaboration has been smooth and rewarding. The team is already planning to cast more products enhanced with 2Dx® CO-NXT to explore its full potential.
“It will be exciting to follow the results in Sundsvall and see how the speed bumps hold up over time. The collaboration with 2D fab and partners has been great so far, and we’re already looking at testing road barriers next,” says Daniel Glad.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project, called “Verification of new technology for climate-smart concrete” runs from January 2025 to December 2026. It is co-financed by Norrlandsnavet, the Swedish Energy Agency, Vinnova and Formas, and carried out together with 2D fab, Gunnar Prefab, Grafoam, Swerock and Sundsvall Municipality. The goal is to demonstrate durable, sustainable and cost-efficient infrastructure solutions using concrete reinforced with graphene-based materials.
