Concrete is essential for buildings, roads, and bridges, but its reliance on cement makes it a major climate villain, contributing 6-8% of global CO₂ emissions. Asphalt, widely used in road construction, is durable but depends on bitumen, a byproduct of fossil fuel refining, raising environmental concerns.

2D fab aims to tackle these issues – using graphene.

By adding graphene, you can sufficiently enhance the durability of structural concrete. Graphene also has the potential to drastically reduce the amount of CO₂ the concrete industry is emitting, as graphene would make it possible to reduce the amount of Portland cement currently used in in concrete.

CASE DESCRIPTION CONCRETE

2D fab is working to facilitate the development of replacement products for Portland cement, with potential to make frost-resistant concrete that is both stronger and less prone to cracking. These products also proved to increase compression strength, flexural strength, and reduce water absorption in concrete.

PRODUCTS

The 2Dx® CO-NXT product line consists of specially developed aqueous suspensions made from 2Dx® material, designed for cementitious binders. By reducing stress from chemical and drying shrinkage, 2DX® CO-NXT reinforces the binder material at the nanoscale, inhibiting crack formation and propagation to boost overall strength.
