The past year marked an important phase in 2D fab’s development. With new 2Dx® products launched and concrete applications moving into real-world environments, our work has increasingly focused on translating our products into scalable, industrial solutions. Together with partners from industry, academia and the public sector, we have continued to advance materials that combine performance with sustainability.

A key milestone during the year was the launch of 2Dx® CO-NXT, our graphene-enhanced solution for cementitious binders. Designed to improve flexural strength, compressive strength and resistance to crack formation, 2Dx® CO-NXT reinforces concrete at the nanoscale and supports more durable structures. The product is well suited for modern cement formulations with higher levels of recycled materials such as fly ash and slag, contributing to reduced climate impact while maintaining high technical performance.

Concrete applications under real-world conditions
Concrete applications have been a central focus this autumn. Together with partners including Gunnar Prefab, Swerock, Grafoam and Sundsvall Municipality, graphene-enhanced speed bumps using 2Dx® CO-NXT were cast and installed at the Gärdehov roundabout in Sundsvall. The speed bumps are now being evaluated under real traffic, winter weather and everyday wear, providing valuable insight into durability, surface wear and long-term performance .

In addition, a full-scale concrete floor reinforced with 2Dx® CO-NXT was cast at SCA Wood’s planing mill in Tunadal. Designed for heavy traffic and demanding freeze-thaw cycles, the project contributes with further insight into how concrete enhanced with graphene-based materials can extend service life and reduce maintenance needs in industrial environments.

Advancing graphene-enhanced adhesives
In parallel with concrete applications, we have advanced our additive for bio-based adhesives, 2Dx® AD-BIO, through industrial trials and projects. Collaborations with partners including IKEA, Tetra Pak, SCA and SLU has demonstrated 2Dx® AD-BIO in wood panels, packaging and paper-based products, improving productivity, reducing energy use and material consumption.

Building partnerships across industry and research
During the year, we hosted and participated in numerous study visits, workshops and industry forums with stakeholders from across the value chain, including municipalities, universities and industrial partners. These exchanges focused on sustainable materials, circularity and the scaling of new technologies.

Our research portfolio has continued to grow through collaborative projects in areas such as battery materials and recycled graphite. Initiatives including BioGraph, GreenWave and Graphite from Black Mass reflect our long-term commitment to circular material flows and responsible production.

The year ahead
As the year concludes, our graphene-based materials are being evaluated in operational settings. With newly launched products, expanding engagement in the concrete sector and a strong collaborative network, we are well positioned to continue scaling our business.

We look forward to following the ongoing field tests and continuing to work with partners to develop durable and resource-efficient materials!
