The goal of the project, Customized Graphene Production, is to develop a manufacturing process for graphene based on a combination of two different subprocesses used in the pulp and paper industry.

– With this environmentally friendly process, we intend to produce a graphene product adapted to fit different purposes and customers, says Roland Bäck, Process Developer at 2D fab.

The project is intended to serve as inspiration for how existing knowledge from the traditional industry could be applied and developed in emerging technology areas. The method also has potential to enable large-scale production of other 2D materials.

The project is funded by Vinnova, Formas and Energimyndigheten through the strategic innovation program Produktion2030, and conducted by a consortium consisting of 2D fab, Valmet, Vesta Si, Mid Sweden University and the research institute Chalmers Industriteknik.
