APPLICATION AREA

POLYMERS

Polymers are materials made of small repeating units of molecules forming large macromolecules. Every polymer has a unique set of properties and can be found in everything from natural materials such as cellulose and rubber to synthetic materials such as nylon and plastics. 2D fab has so far been focusing on polyamide, polycarbonate, polyolefins, polyester and ABS plastics.

By adding graphene to a polymer, you can dramatically improve the properties the material already has or give it new properties. For example, graphene can increase a material’s strength and improve resistance to supersonic impacts or give the material brand new properties such as electrical and thermal conductivity.

Key graphene properties

  • Heat conductivity
  • Electrical conductivity
  • Strength/stiffness
  • Impact resistance
  • Lightweight

CASE DESCRIPTION POLYMERS

2D fab has had several partners/customers within the polymer market, primarily in material and product development. In one of our projects, we collaborate with EcoRub to incorporate graphene in recycled rubber and polymer materials.

PRODUCTS

2D fab offers 2Dx® Masterbatch for polycarbonate compounding with a 30–50% increase in stiffness with concentrations as low as 0.5–1.5wt% graphene, enabling the construction of stronger products and more lightweight redesigns.
